In particular, having breakfast on the open terrace overlooking the ocean, while tasting local cuisine and listening to the sound of waves, is a highlight of the stay.

Runner's Review:Eef Beach, spreading right in front of the hotel (0-min walk), is sandy and easy to lose your footing, so it is best to start with a warm-up walk. Once you exit the beach, you can start running in earnest; a round trip to Ojima Island and Tatami-ishi Rocks is Kume Island’s best running course. The panoramic view from Shin-Ou Bridge is breathtaking. The southern Shimajiri Beach area is also a hidden gem with well-paved sidewalks and very little traffic, allowing you to focus on your run while feeling the ocean breeze.

- A Breakfast Buffet That Exceeds Expectations： The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of items, and I was surprised by the high quality of each dish. Local dishes and island specialties of Kume Island are well represented, providing a highly satisfying menu that you won’t get tired of even during consecutive stays.
- Beach Access That’s Almost Too Good to Be True： Although not directly connected to the hotel, Eef Beach is less than a 1-minute walk from the back exit. It is practically right in front of you, making it a luxurious environment where you can easily go for a walk or enjoy the sunset.
- Fresh Renovation, Deep History — A Rare Combination： While the guest rooms are very modern and clean after the 2024 renovation, you can still feel the dignity of a historic resort in areas like the peaceful lawn garden. The coexistence of new facilities and the security of a long-established hotel created a very relaxing stay.
Runner's Review:Go to Eef Beach within a 1-minute walk from the hotel. Use the sandy beach for a warm-up stroll, and once you exit the beach, head towards Ojima Island. The Tatami-ishi Beach and the transparent sea seen from Shin-Ou Bridge are must-visits. Having “Tatami-ishi Rocks” as your destination helps boost motivation. The seaside route leading towards Shimajiri Beach has very few cars and people, making it an excellent jogging course where you can enjoy the scenery all to yourself.

- ・Parking space is narrow; careful driving is required
- Spotless Rooms and an Owner Who Reads the Room： A compact guesthouse with simple facilities, but it is thoroughly cleaned and very tidy. The owner may seem reserved at first, but is genuinely warm once you settle in. The style of not interfering and maintaining a comfortable distance makes the stay very pleasant. Considering the cost and facilities, it offers great value.
- Simple Yet Pleasing Breakfast： The breakfast is not elaborate, but it includes basic side dishes well, offering a pleasing and suitable meal for a travel morning.
- Notes on Location and Access： On the map, Eef Beach seems right in front, but because of a fence and vegetation, you need to detour slightly, taking about 3 minutes on foot. Nevertheless, it is close enough to easily go for walks or watch the sunset. Also, the parking lot in front of the guesthouse has space for only about 3 cars. It gets narrow when more cars park, so drive carefully.
- Comfortable Sleep Surrounded by Silence： Kume Island itself is very quiet, but this guesthouse, located just one block off the main road, is exceptionally quiet. I was able to sleep soundly at night.
Runner's Review:Walk about 3 minutes from the guesthouse, starting from the center of the Eef area towards the beach. The sandy ground of Eef Beach is easy to lose your footing, so start with a warm-up walk while enjoying the sea view. Once you leave the beach, start running. A round trip to Ojima Island and Tatami-ishi Rocks is Kume Island’s premier scenic course. The southern Shimajiri area has extremely low traffic and well-paved sidewalks, making it a hidden gem where you can run comfortably with the scenery all to yourself.
