Run Along Bidou Promenade & Yoron Blue
Field-tested. No hype, just the real island.
Only the routes worth running — curated to earn you the full “Yoron Blue” experience.

🌴 The “Windbreak Forest Wall” Unique to Remote Islands
“If you go to a remote island, you can run pleasantly while looking at the sea anywhere.”
Many runners visit with such expectations, but the reality is slightly different. Like other remote islands, Yoron Island has many areas with no roads along the coast, and even if there are roads, the ocean is mostly hidden behind dense windbreak forests and trees planted for typhoon protection.
🌊 Two Specially Selected Courses
Even in such an environment where the ocean is hard to see, there are places where you can strongly feel the charm of the sea and the remote island with your entire body.
We introduce two courses that we confidently recommend, found by running all over the island on our own feet. Frankly, there are no other places we can actively recommend besides these two courses.
Please enjoy the contrast between the Yoron Blue and the sunset, which can only be experienced at these limited scenic spots.
Field-tested! Recommended Scenic Courses
1. Yoron Island Scenic Running Course
Starting at Chabana Fishing Port, this 8km loop is loaded with highlights — Kanemo Beach, Coral Way, Paradise Beach, Yoron Station, and the breathtaking Bidou Promenade. Push through the hills, and the full Yoron Blue is your reward.
A special view just south of the airport, known only to runners
A rough yet beautiful sea viewed from Bidou Promenade
Coral Way is a unique scenic spot where white gravel roads meet the airfield
A large ferry arriving at Yoron Port is an unexpectedly photogenic moment
🏃♂️Runner's VoiceField Impression
- ■The biggest highlight is Bidou Promenade. Located on a cliff along the coast, it offers beautiful ocean views at any time of day. The sunset here stops you in your tracks. On clear days, Cape Hedo — the northernmost tip of Okinawa’s main island — appears on the horizon.
- ■Between Paradise Beach and Bidou Promenade, there are paved paths along the coast that are not marked on Google Maps. Because there are some elevation changes, it is best to walk and savor the rugged scenery rather than trying to run through.
- ■Coral Way, which runs along the airport runway, is a perfect photo spot where the blue sky contrasts beautifully with the white gravel road. Aviation fans will love the runway-side views — planes pass close enough to feel the engines.
- ■Beautiful beaches like Kanemo Beach and Paradise Beach are scattered along the way. Forget the clock — stop at these beaches, hydrate, and breathe in the island air.
- ■【Variation】While starting from Chabana Fishing Port makes a full 8km loop, starting from Chabana Port Coastal Harbor (which also has parking) shortens it to 5.5km. Alternatively, starting from Yoron Airport and looping from Paradise Beach through Bidou Promenade offers a quick 2km strolling course. That flexibility is one of the best things about this course.

2. Udonosu Beach – Chabana Port Round-Trip Course
An easy-access coastal round-trip course starting near the center of Yoron Island. Weaving through narrow, winding backstreets toward the beach is the perfect way to soak up the island’s local vibe. Jogging here in the evening while watching the sunset is highly recommended.
Udonosu Beach, with its crystal-clear water, is perfect for a quick break
Run along Mykonos St to feel the refreshing island breeze
🏃♂️Runner's VoiceField Impression
- ■This course is perfect for when you want to run easily along the coast or take a quick walk to the beach. You can start right from the central downtown area of Yoron Island and break a quick sweat.
- ■The path from Chabana Fishing Port to Udonosu Beach runs through very narrow and tricky residential alleys. But that’s exactly the point — it’s the unfiltered, everyday Yoron, and navigating those streets feels like cracking a secret island code.
- ■Try running during the evening. Locals gather at the Chabana Port breakwater to cool off and watch the sunset. Joining them to cool down after your run will make you feel like a true islander.
- ■When turning back at Udonosu Beach, we recommend taking some time to sit on the sand and listen to the waves. Think of it less as training, more as letting the ocean wash your stress away.
3 Golden Rules for Running on Yoron Island
🏃 ① View Over Pace
The routes include promenades with ups and downs and unpaved paths (coral gravel). Give yourself permission to stop, take photos, and simply be there.
🌇 ② Aim for the Evening
The west coast routes introduced here offer exceptional sunset views. Skip the midday heat. Head out as the sun starts to drop, run the west coast, and end on the breakwater for a sunset you won’t forget.
🥤 ③ Plan Your Hydration
You will run through areas with very few vending machines. Especially on the 8km scenic loop, we highly recommend hydrating well before starting and carrying water with you if possible.
